Gladioli Club Meets
♦ The Horowhenua Gladioli Club held its monthly meeting in Levin this week with a good attendance of members. The programme for the season was outlined and it includes demonstrations, weekly shows from January 12 to February 20 and visits to gardens in various dis-. tricts. A paper was read and discussed. It dealt with sueh subjects as the selection of corms, their age, yariety, depth texture and ability to produce; soil and its relation to the quality of the bloom; name sticks; method of planting and dates; and control of insect. pests. The club's activities are prbving most interesting-and anyone interested in j oining the club is invited to eommunicate with the .president or secretary.
