DECISIVE GAME AHEAD

With only three series of games remaining to complete the second and final round of the Horowhenua senior rugby championship, chief interest will centre on the co'ming clash between Athletic and Shannon, which will be the decisive one provided there are no upsets in the other games. Shannon have 20 points and Athletic 18. If Shannon win the game with Athletic they will take the championship honours. Howevei\ should Ath etic carry the day ther points wi 1 be even, necessi ating a play-off. The first round game betwen these two teams was a very even one, played to a three-all draw. After holding the junior competition lead from the commencement, Punahau (16 points) have been displaced by AthleJe (18 points). These two teams a're well ahead of the others and will be difficult to unseat in the remaining six series of games. Again this season Old Boys have shown themselves to be a tough nut to crack in the third grade championship, and are in the happiest position. They were held to a six-all draw by Foxton in their first game of the season, but have won all succeedlng encounters to notch 21 points. As in past years, College A are at the top of the fourth grade competition and, like Old Boys thiids, have one draw and nine wins from ten games. With 19 points they will be difficult to head, Rahui (15 points) being closest io them.
