Iicceived Tuesday, 7.10 p.m. SYDNEY, July 19. During pursuit at higli specd th rough the eity, deteetives riddled a stolen car with bullets and fmally captured t'our men and a woman at gunpoint. A police car chased tlie vehicle through the suburhs of Redfern and Darlington at well over 70 miies an honr. Several times the police car drew level and tried to head the other vehicle off hut °ach time the stolen car broke away after tbreatening to crash. After two shonted warnings, deteetives opened tire as the dolen car skiddod round a corner. Narrowly avoiding people waiting ■it a tram stop. the stolen car was 'oreed at last to the kerb. Tts driver gasped : £'7've been shot." It was found that he had hoen hit in the back hy a fragment of a bullct which did not. nenetrate lnit eoused a swclling. Four men and a woman were later charged with illegally using +he car.
