Rahui Juniors Have Close Call
Rahui juniors continued their winning run with a narrow victory over Awahau at Otaki after a great duel. This makes four successive wins for the victors, who have met and defeated in turn Tokomaru, Waikanae, Punahau (although this decision was reversed) and Awahau. Scrum infringements early in game gave two penalties to Awahau, both -kicks being unsuecessful. The position was reversed soon after and R. Bevan was successful with the first of two kicks, the second missing narrowly. Whittaker, Governor, Hapeta and Broughton in turn turned on some solid defensive work for the visitors. Rahui forwards Tom Fox, D. Walker, N. Mudgway and W. Walker made valiant efforts time and again, with R. Giddens often in support, to cross Awahau's line, but the game ended with only the one score earned. J-. Connor (Rahui) and R. Broughton (for Awahau), the full-backs, earned applause on several occasions for clearing kicks and sound exhibitions. Mr. M. Johnson was the' referee.
