Two negroes were arrested as suspects. Later a lieavily arweu mob threatened 'to storm the gaol in the nearby tofrn- of Tavares where they thought *the' Negroes were being held but the shei'iif persuaded them to leave. The Negroes had been transferred to a. seeret gaol. The mob fheh roanleci chrough the Negro seetion' of G-rove-land, iiring shots and sliouting threats.
