GISBORNE, July 19. When the northbound National Airways Corporation aircraft touchedd on gingerly at Darton B'ield yesterday afternoon, and rolled smoothly to a stop, sighs of relief went up from the seven passengers and from the sathering' on the tarmac inciuding ambulance men and a fire-fighting unit. ^ ' After leaving the waterlogged Palmerston North drome, trouble developed with the undercarriage retraction gear. The aircraft,, after circling Napier drome twice,': h.ead-^ ed for Gisborne without stopping. The passengers were informed of the -difiiculty with the undercarriage gear. On nearing Gisborne, the passengers were warned to sit tight and, instructions were given for the opening of the safety port. The air^ craft touched down lightly, appar? ently bringing the landing gear •mechanism into normal order, for on its next approach the plane made a perfect landing
