Many Hear Test. The broadcast of the first rugby test match kept many radip listeners up until a late ho-ur on SUnday morning. Although-; ireception was not as good as wafc hhped for, many heard the f ull broadcast. ; Races Prove Popularl Local followers of "the. sport of kings were represented. in str ength at the Wellington races last Saturday. Many made the trip to the meeting by train, but -private cars transported most of the followers. Miniature-. Rifles. ■' ■ The Shannon MiniatUfe Rifie Club will toe' holding its weekly dioot on Tuesday night jnstead of Wednesday this week. The change has been made to allow the hall to be prepared for .the forthcoming R.S.A. carnival. Rain Hampers Work. Once again members of the Shannon Athletic and -Cycling Club were' hampered by rain in their efforts to carry out repair work to the domain cycle track over the weekend. As was the case last weekend, work had only -commenced when it was found that it was impossible to carry on . owing to the wet condition of the soil. Only a small portion of the track was attended to. It is to be hoped that the working bee will have better luck , in .thf future, as its plans for improyjng tke -track are large and much time will have' to be spent before the coming season.
