AUCKLAND, July 17, . One thousand Maori people who gathered at Murupara today, unanimously agreed to the principle of national service on the same basis as Europeans. They will ask the Government to revive the Maori Battalion l>y the creation of small military units. Speakers stressed the diseiplinary efiieet that the training would have on young Maori men. The purpose of the meeting was to unveil a flagstaff and tombstone in memory of Mr. Dave Rewi, late Maori..
