Development Of Play Area At Railway

■ ,t - ; - — r , A recommendation from the Otaki Borough Council's works committee regarding the Centennial Playground at Otaki Railway was that this area be not leased when the present ^tenancy .expires at the end of the current month, but that the site be developed. „ r It was reported that previous dis-^ cussions with the. domain commitfee set up to deal with the area had resuited in a decision being arrived at that as the main highway was to be widened, there was no point to be gained in developing the area according to the plan in hand. With the possibility of. a start being made' soon to complete the road-work contemplated, the works committee felt that the council should not let another year go by, but should at ileast sow the ground down. j It was agreed the area would take (time to prepare, and as it is some. time since the plan was submitted, jit is to be placed before the council ifor further discussion at its next • meeting. A sum of £121 was repofcted in the Centennial Play Area apcount. , '; \ Mr. B. E. Meyer, of- Otaki Railway, wrote to the council, expressing the wish that he be given an opportunlity of leasing the area -should it be jthe iniention of the council to offer • the ground for market-gardening for a further term.
