Labour Candidate's Visit. Mr. Rogers, the Labour eandidate for the Manawatu electorate, will be paying his first ofiicial visit to Shannon tomorrow evening, when he will he present at the monthly meeting of the Shannon branch oi the, Labour Party -to meet friends ahd supporters. ;R.S.A. Carnival. •Considerable interest is being taken in the forthcoming .R.S.A carnival ih aid of the War Memorial fun-d. The secretary of the R.S.A. (Mr. E. J. Gunning) acknowledges the receipt of the following donations: Messrs W. Scobie, J. J. Moynihan, S. W. Eagle, J. Humphries and Mrs. A. Smith, £2 each: Messrs D. Fitzgerald and; J, A. Ried, £1 each; total to date £12. Domain Working Bee. Owing to the unfavourable wea-. ther conditions last Spnday, ihemj bers of the Shannon Amateuf Athletic and Cycling Club could not hold the working bee at the domain to prepare the cycle track for the coming season. It will now be held on . Sunday. Trucks and shovels will be the order of ' the day and members are requested to . bring their lunch, as there is a big day ahead. Better Weather Expected. Shannon and its lower distriets experienced a heavy frost this morning. Ground which was a few days ago covered with floodwaters was this morning wrapped in a blanket of white, and residents are looking forward to better weather over the weekend. For the past three weeks the weather, especially at the weekends ,has been anything but good, with the result that outdoqr sports have been neglected.
