HASTINGS, July 13. Buyers of lambs operated keenly at Stortford Eodge to-day but the market for wethers was easier. In-lamb ewes were traded at values about in line with ruling rates. The season's highest price in the yards for woolly wether lambs of 41s 3d, was paid for a quality line. Later this figu're was approaehed when a line brought 40s 9d. The yarding of 5000 head included some good quality sheep but generally the offering was not as stylish as last week. Inter1 est was largely transferred to lambs, I woolly wether sorts realising 38s to 41s j 3d and small ewe lambs bringing 32s 7d to 3Ss. ' Good Down cross lambs sold at 36s 6d to 37s. The wether market was not as lively as in recent weeks and as a result values turned more in buyers' favour. Two-tooth lines cha\igl ed hands at 45s 7d to 49s 7d and grown sheep made 43s 9d to 49s. For a few lines of in-lamb ewes, recent rates were fairly well maintained though buyers did not appear to be acting with the I same coniidence which marked recent saJes, live year olds sold at 44s to 46s 9d, four and five year olds at 44s 7d and live and six year olds at 41s to 41s 2(1. Butcliers once more bid keenly for a good yarding of fat sheep and the market remained strong. Quality lainb.t were in better supply and these brought good prices. Other classes ox sheep also were easy to trade at levels which showed no tendency to ease. Prinie wethers brought 57s lOd to 59s 4d with lighter up to 55s 7d. Prinie young ewes were traded at up to 43s, prime older ewes at 33s lOd to 35s 10d and unlinished at 21s 4d to 26s 4d. Two-tooths ranged from 42s 10d to 50s lOd, heavy lambs from 46s 4d to 50s 4d; medium weights 41s Id to 42s lOd and small 35s lOd. Mtore cattle ivere again in demand when an offering of 800 came forward. A proportion of the yardiug consisted of dealers' cattle, several lines of which wrere passed in. Where genuinc ■ station lines came forward, liowever, | the inquiry was met at values well iu accord with those of recent weeks. Light bullocks realised £17, rising twoyear steers £11 6s to £13 8s, weanei steers £8 2s to £9 9s, empty cows £9 2s 6d and £9 3s, tour and live year incalf cows £11 3s and weaner heifers £7 7s. Buyers were offered a great selection in a yarding of 270 head of fat cattle, some of t lie lieaviest bullocks seen 111 the yards this year being Included in a plentiiul supply of ox beef. From par levels the market eollapsed toward the eud of the sale when butcliers had lilled their requirements. Well linished bullocks were more plentiful than at any saic this seasoii and quality was also offering. Among the fentale entry a top quality consigumerit of 24 heavy bullocks sold at up to £27 13s 6d. The majority vvere blacks but tT.ere was a spriukling of Bhorthorn cross Herexord and Red Poll bullocks. Lighter bullocks sold subsequently were cousidered dearer 111 comparison. Prime heavy ox was traded at £24 18s 6d to £27 13s 6d, medium weights at £20 3s 6d to £23 13s 6d aud light at £15 8s 6d to £18 13s 6d. Prime heifers clianged hands at £13 18s 6d to £14 lSs 6d. lighter bringing £12 8s 6d to £13 3s 6d. Prime cows realised £13 16s lo £15 3s 6d with medium quality at £12 8s 6d to £12 lSs 6d and liglit at £10 13s 6d to £11 Ts. Eunners sold at £12 10s. Heavy vealers niade £/' 15s to £9 10s and lighter realised £4 5s to £6 11s.
