Tlie new legislation, which received tlie assent of tlie Govevnor-General, Mr. ARKell, yesterdav, purports to give tlie Connnonvvealth power to make an order for tlie deportation of any wartinie refugee. Tlie legislation followed a recent judgment of the full Higli Cou,rt, holding tliat Mrs. O'Keefe could not be deported. Today 's writ against the jMipister of lmmigration, Mr. Calwell, and Uommonwealtli, claims tliat Mrs. O 'Iveefe is a British subject and an Australian eitizen witliin the meaning of the National Citizenship Act, 194S.
