WELLINGTON, July 12. After an address by Sir Donald Simson, New Zealand representative of the Empire Industries Association and British Empire League, on tlie subject of Empire preference, a meeting of business leaders arranged by the United Ivingdom Manufacturers and New Zealand Representatives Association, this afternoon, earried the following motion: — "This meeting representing the conimercial, industrial and cultural sections of the eommunity, feels that as Empire preference has expanded world trade in the past and should continue td do so, we reaffirm our unanimous a'cceptance of Empire preference as the pplicy which should be followed by N)ew Zealand not only in the interest of the Empire, but also of world trade generally. We therCfore strongly urge our Parliament to oppose any trade agreement which will endanger the main principles of Empire preference and to this end ask the Government to institute an early diseussion by Parliament of the Havana and Geneva trade proposals." A further mbtion asked each New Zealand association to urge kindred organisations in the United Kingdom and other Donrinions to support Empire prefbrence.
