Fate of Stewart Island
WELLINGTON, July 12. The fate of 350 thirsty Stewart lslanders and their guests, kept cropping up during the Licensing Control Commission session to-day. The Stewart Island branch of the Seamen's Union was called among the long list of witnesses and counsel but no representative appeareU. It is understood that both the union and Stewart Island County Council will object to the granting of a tourist licence on the grounds that they would prefer the operation of a trust as a branch. of the present one at Invercargill.
