Terming the penalties imposed for overweight wool bales as "unjust 'and vioious," Mr. W. J. Galloway, aeting chairman of the meat and wool section of Manawatu Provincial Federated Farmers, stated at a meeting in Palmerston North that he did not support the federation's decision to fight any prosecution of "oifenders," and agree'd with a motion passed at the meeting that the federation be urged to take action to have the penalties removed before the ' next wool clip. A motion to this effect was carried without dissent. Following a report by Mr. Galloway on the decision made at the Dominion meat and wool conference to which the acting chairman was delegate, Mr. H. J. Kilsby stated that the federation should not be content only to fight any prosecution but should take more direct action and fight to have the penalties removed.
