Currency Problem.
rwo passengers irom sydney by the early morning charter Skymaster last week were dismayed to find they had to use New Zealand currency to get a cup of tea at' the Auckland airport. The cafeteria refused to accept the Australian currency which was all they had in their possession. Seeing their plight, a New Zealander paid for them with a half-crown piece. He was taken aback when, among his change, he found an Australian shilling. Carpenters Working Well. ^ The building indusbry in Auckland was rapidly settling down again after ihe recent carpenters' dispute and goo'd progress was being made on most contracts, said the secretary of the Auckland Master Builders' Association, Mr. M. F. Bunker, in Wellington, yesterday. He added that- the output pef man was reported to be very much higher than before the dispute and most of the carpenters were' making a genuine- attempt to overtake-arrears. Right Time Necessary. \ The necessity for interested ' ' parties to appear before hearings of transport authorities if they desired to give evidence was stressed by the Transport Appeal Authority, Judge Archer, in Auck'and. "In future it must be made clear to local bo'dies, residents, associations and unions tnat they' must appearat the right time," said the judge. Sittings of authorities were advertised.^but some bodies, particularly workers, did' not interest themselves « until they found they were affected by decisions/ he added.
