Boy's Body Found At Mouth Of River

• ^ The body of a small boy was found on Moanaroa Beach, just north of the Rangitikei River, yesterday, and it is believed to be that of Trevor Raymona Abbott, aged 7 years, the son of Mr. and Mrs. 'Sid Abbott, who went missing from his liome at Tangimoana on May 25. A large-scale seareh at that time failed to disclose any trace of the boy, but the diseovery of an upturned boat on the river near where he had last been seen playing, led to the belxei that he had been drowned. The diseovery was made by another seven-year-old boy, Norman Lewis. Walding, who resides with his parents at 509 Church Street, Palmerston North. Norman was visiting the locality for the day •R'ith his father's partner in business, Mr. D. M. Smith, of Palmerston North. Mr. Smith was away shooting and Norman Walding was playing on the beach when he found the body. It is thought that the body of Trevor Abbott had been eaught up in a snag in the river and that it was released by the extra flow in.-the recent fresh. The body was ih. a fair state of preservation. The boy's parents moved away from Tangimoana aftei the tragedy and identity will not be established'until today when an inquest will be opened at Feilding. . ■ • >
