Home And School Association Holds Monthly Meeting
Despite several coimter attractiqns, the attendance at the Home and School Association's meeting on Thursday night was well up to ayerage, 26 being present. A welcome was extended tb Miss Turner; who has recent y joined ihe staff, and congratulations were extended to those responsible for the many improvements in evidence. A special tribute was paid to Mr. L. Walsh for the novel and attrqctive wall vases provided. Further proposed improvements were discussed, and the headmaster, Mr. O. H. E. Yates, outlined proposals for tree planting and garden plots. The association recommended that judging of the home. garden p ots should take place earlier than formerly, and the proposal met with favourable support. A special meeting to foster interest in the boys' and girls' calf club was also mooted. Mr. Yates reported that Automobile Association oflicers had visited the school and many matters of importance were outlined to pupiis. It was reported that the Automobile Association had been invited to ai.tend- the next meeting of the association- on August 4. Vocationai guidance bfficers are to be invited to address members at the meeting on Septemfcer 8. A sub-committee of five, comprising Mesdames J. Ross and W. Anderson, and Messrs J. Martin, L. Moss and R. Bills, was appointed to meet school^„committee members and representatives ,.oft the staff to discuss the iaising of funds for school improvements and the holding of a gala day or fete to provide the required amount.
