LIFE SENTENCE ON CARDINAL TO STAND
Received Sundav 7 p.m. BUDAPEST, July 9. 'fhe Court of Appeal, in a final ver d;ct, refused to reduce Cardinal Mintls zentv's life sentence but reduced to 15 years the life sentence on Dr. Bela Is jiankv, a Catholie priest. The sentence on Dr. Juszlin Baranyai was reduced from 15 to 12 years and on Dr. Andras Zakar from 0 to 4 years. The sentences on other defendants, Prince Paul Esz terhazy, 15 years; Miklos Nagy, 3 year; and Dr. Laszlo, 10 years, were conlirmed. " Fonfirming the life sentence on Caidinal Mindszenty, the Court declared: "Beyond the slightest doubt Cardinal klindszcnty should, in fact have been \\ sentenced to death but the case lost its onfginal importance with the arrest and sentence of the Cardinal.
