June Was Wet Month But Rain Beneficial
As most people are doubtless well aware, June was a wet month. Records supplied by Mr. F. H. Critch'ey, of Tasman Beach, reveal that rain fell on 18 days, the total being 426 points. The corresponding month last year saw 13 rainy days, with a, total of 241 points of rain. The highest fall recorded last month was on the 12th, when 76 points fell, and the rain generaly was well spread. This together with mild day temperatures, resulted in a good growth of grass, despite the fact that winter officially began on the 22nd of the month. A taste of winter was evident when snow fell on the ranges four times during June, with one severe and four mld frosts following. Cairn conditions prevailed on i5 days at 9.30 a.m. and there was an absende throughout the month of high winds. Conditions experienced in June last" year were " inuch colder than in the month .iust concluded.'
