Otaki State School met and 'defeated Otaki Convent on the domain on Monday. Five minutes after the commencement of play Bob Seal,score,d a go.qd try near the posts and Pqter Bartdsh converted. After "15 minutes of play W. Ahipene scored well out, giving State School an eight-point lead. Shortly after good play by Snowdon and Seal .took the. baT .over the line, but Convent saved by forcing. Danger loomed up following a scrum - near Gop vent's line, but they cleared' jweh. ^^Play was fairly even for the ibnlainder of the spell and the. half ifb^nwhistle went with the • s6or«4MS®;ered. w * Too much/hard kicking by Otaki near Convent's line enabled the latter to force; They then attacked, but Otaki were able to keep them out. Sopn after a free kick awarded to Convent was taken by J. Nichols, birfe. - it just failed to reach the cross-bar. The game then moved down to Convent's line,where "-smart, play by Otaki's half, P. The game was well controlled by Mr. J. Hewitson. Basketball1 Played AIso. A basketball match between the two schools saw Otaki A team defeat Concent A bv 14 points to 8 after a very good game. Victoria Tehiwi scored most of the points for Otaki, while Nellie Carkeek and Huia Fielding also played well. The game was ably controlled by Mrs. Ward. .
