Personal. Mr: C. G. Anderson,- postmaster at Otaki, and Mrs. Anderson have returned from their annual'furlough. Mrs. N. Barron, of Matene Street, was on Monday admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital for observation. » , . Mr. D. McGlusky, of Tasman Beach, who has sold his property, is expected to enter hospital within the next day or two. Mr. Colin Jensen, of the Otaki Post OfRce staff, who was operated on for foot trouble on Thursday last, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. He is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Sudden Hailstorm. A sharp fail of hail was experienced at Tasman Beach yesterday afternoon, catching many people una wares af ter brilliapt sunshine earlier in the day. Rangiuru Road Improvements. The Horowhenua County Counci.'s grader and trucks have been very active in straightening the bend known as "Elliott's corner" in Rangiuru Road lately. Some inconr venience has heen caused as a result of the abnormal recent rainfall, but the improvement will be mojst marked when the work is eom-. pleted. Non-stop Variety Shbw Pleases. Barton's Foiiies played to a near capacity house at Otaki last night and, judging by the applause and the smiles and expressions of merriment on the faces of many members of the audience as they dispersed, a most erijoyable night had been spent. There were in-" numerable highligh'ts, screen and radio impersonations, pleasing ba-let numbers, ' with most effective settings, and frocking and lighting effects of a high standard. Contortionists and tap dancing were seen and enjoyed. A generous measure of humour on occasions had the house rocking with laughter. ■
