Personal. Miss Makuini Ransfield, of Te Rauparaha Street, was among the • debuiantes presented at the annua] charity ball in Palmerston North on .Thursday night last. Sympathy will be extended by his many friends to Mt. V. F. Bertlesen, of Dunstan Street, at the sudden passing of his father, which occurre'd ao Waikanae ;on Friday morning. The interment took place at Wel ington on Satufday, Canon H. E. K. Fry being the oificiating minister. Chimney Fire. An alarm sounded on the fire siren at 8.10 a.m. this morning on account of a chimney fire at Mr. H. J. Palmer's residence, Waerenga Rbad. No damage was done. Fourth Grade Rugby. The clash between the two fourth grarde rugby teams, Rahui and Colege A, both of whom had an unbeaten record, took place on Saturday, when the latter prevailed by six poinis tc^ three. Tuis Card Evening. The fortnightly card evenings, conducted by the. Tuis marching team, and held in the Druids' Hall, were continued on Thufsday last. Prizes on this occasion were won by Miss R. Nicolson and Mesdames Rosoman, L. Frederickson, H. Arcus and R. Bills. Football Team Divided. With half the team turning up at 'the domain on Saturday and the remainder at the racecourse, the Otaki third grade footballers could not muster anywhere near the required number when the whist~'e blew to start the game against Old Boys, and the latter were awarded the game by de'fault. Successful Dance. Despite almost incessant rain, a large crowd gathered at Manakau ■ on Saturday night for the Bandolier's marching team dance. The function was an outstanding siiccess, numbered among those present being patrons from Waikanae to Shannon. Mr. C. Pussell carried out the duties of M.C. and numerous novelty dances provided added interest.
