LONG TALK WITH THE RECALCITRANTS.
CHRISTCHURCH, July 3. The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) discussed compulsory military training with the North Canterbury Labour representation committee for about one and a half liours this afternoon. Mr. Fraser spoke to a crowded meeting of more tlian 200 delegates and answered questions. No motion was put to the meeting on the subject and- the ehairi man of the committee (Mr. John Roberts), refused to comment last evening. The committee had previously o,djected to compulsory military training. After the meeting Mr. Fraser appeared satished with the discussion. "It was a good meeting," he said but as a visitor he declined to give further mforniation. Any statement would be issued by the committee. • • The meeting, which lasted for nearly three hours, passed a vote of confidence in Mr. Fraser and the Labour Government, after Mr. Fraser had spoken on the coming General Election.
