British Workers Marshalled For Big Clash With Government
Received Friday, 9.25 a.m. LOiNJDON> June 30. Britain's railwaymen and London's waterfront and electricity power workers were tonight marshalled for the biggest head-on clash yet with the Labour Goverhment cn industrial issues.
Some observers assert thai Britain is facing its blackest weekend on the industrial front since the great general strike of 1926. There seems practically no hope of averting a "go-slow" movement, which from midnight on _ Sunday may hring chaos to the railways. Thr Port of London is threatened tfith a developfng work stoppage, arising from the Canadian union "war," which already includes well over 7000 men and 7C ships. About 5000 workers who reported at the Royal and Surrey Docks today were refused employment on other vessels imless they lifted the boycott of the two Canadian ships in the dispute, the Beaverbrae and Argomont. Attempts are being made to settle differences over the new wage agreement which have led to the threat by the workers at seven oi London's biggest power stations to plunge the capital into darkness bj a strike onJuly 6.
