Tennis Club's Pleasant Social Evening

A very pleasant social function was held recentiy in the Oddfellows' Hall by members of St. Joseph's Tennis Club. There was a good attendance of members and. their friends. The following trophies were presented: — Smith Bros.' Shield (juniors) : Master Jack Shaw. Sander's Cup (ladies' and men's handicap singles) : Miss J. Fanning and Mr. N. Baylis. . In the absence of Miss Fanning, Mr. Noel Bayli& accepted "the ciip on his Own and her behalf, and in doing so made special mention of the very keen competition involved in the playing off of these trophies. Opportunity w^s also taken during the evening " hy the x president, Mr. M. A. Sandevs, of presenting to Mr. R. 'Baylis, cliib captain, a fountain pen as an appreciation of the excellent service. he had rendered to the club.
