(To the Editor) Sir,— In your issue of June 21 a- - correspondent stated that the ' Levin Hotel was built in 1890 by 1 the late Mr. P. B. Bartholomew. This statement is not correct. In 1 1888 when the first sections com- i prising the site of the Levin Hotel 1 were sold a number were bought by the late Mr. F. G. Roe. He and his i brother had the bush felled, the 1 section cleared, and hotel erected, 1 the work being superintended by i the late Mr. Walter Staff, of 1 Heatherlea. These are the authentic details, 1 as I have in my possession the re- ( cords of early Levin. Yours. etc..
