Waitarere Institute Meets

The -monthly meeting of the Waitarere Women's Institute was pre-' sided over by the president, Mrs. Fagan, who extended a warm welcome to a large attendance of members. Mesdames Hood and Fletcher were appointed delegates to the rally committee. The president thanked members for their cooperation during the arts and crafts display and specially thanked Mrs. Janson for arranging transport. It was decided to hold a series of card evenings. A banner for the institute was discussed and members were asked to bring plans to the next meeting. It was reported that two gift pareels had been posted to the institute's English link, one containing fat and the other soap. The roll call, "the most amusing thing I ever saw" brought forth some entertaining experienees. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hood and Janson. A demonstration on the making of footstools from baking powder tins and scraps of material was given by Mrs. Stanley It proved most intefesting and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Competitions resulted as follows: Child's knitted ; vest: Mrs. Janson 1, Mrs. Weldon 2. Health loaf: Mrs. warrington 1, Mrs. Stanley 2, Mrs. Coleman 3. Best bloom: MrS. Stanley 1, Mrs. Weldon 2, Mrs. Turton 3.
