School Diamond Jubilee Was Financial Success
When Messrs L. J. Bowler and J. T. Bovis, the joint seeretaries of the Shannon School Diamond Jubilee Committee, presented their balance sheet to the committee at Its flnal meeting last Wednesday, It revealed that the jubilee had beeh only a social but also a, financial success. The balance sheet disclosed a profit of £157 12s 7d after all accounts had been paid. The combined ball was responsible for £47 14s lld, being the school committee's share of the £95 9s lld profit from the function. It is interesting to note that the door takings on the night of the ball totalled £110 5s 9d and £112 17s 6'd worth of tickets had heen sold beforehand; 500 paid for. admission to the jubilee banquet and the receipts amounted to £262 10s. Although general expenditure was heavy, the banquet showed a profit of £28 17s ld. The ' 618 copies of the jubilee booklet sold had netted a profit of £23 11s. Some 130 hooks were still on hand, and were finding an occasional sale. Receipts from the whole of the jubilee proeeedings amounted to £715 3s and £557 11s 5d was paid out in expenditure. 17 Sm i mSm m > I ■ "J I
