"Strearmialer's" Reception In Wellington
— £ ♦ WELLIN GTOli, June 24. Gaily dressed with bunting the streamliner Port Auckland slipped up Wellington Harbour early this afternoon to her ' Aotea Quay berth. She ended her inaidgn voyage from London to a noisy wefcome from the reverberatmg sirens of other ships in port. With her swanlike swept-back sup'erstructure' imposed on her toore conventional hull she made a magnificent sight. The wharves were lined to see the arrival of this disturber of marin'e' orthodoxy as her commander, Captain W. J. Enright, O.B.E., R.D., called her. "We are all satisfied with the ship," he said. The accommodation for passengers and crew was as good as he had seen in any ship. The crew's quarters were outstanding. "The idea Rehia d the streamlining is to get soinething not so orthodox as in other ships so that Port Line ships can be recognised immediatelv. It is a gesture on the part of shipbuilders to show the world that Britain can still build the best ships in the world."
