Honest Toil Needed.
"What we want in this country is a little inore honest toil, for there is no room here for the malingerer, the loafer and the parasite. I am not a scaremonger or an Oriental fatalist, but we must all work — and work hard — if we are to protect this? country and our way of ' life." This was the massage given by the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple, in an address in Timaru. He discussed the menace of a dictatobship which he said. threatened New Zealand today, and was eritical of the efforts' of the Communists to disrupt the Labour movement. Priee Of Sovereigns, Sovereigns which, according to cable reports, fetch from £6 to £8 ' in England, do not bring such high prices in New Zealand. An Auckland trading firm said it bought ; sovereigns for £2 10s each. The • actual value of the gold in a sover- ; eign is 32s, and banks pay only £1 a coin. The sovereign was last struck in 1917.
