Brian Mitchell. 14, of Derbvshire. found a length of thin chain in a fleld near his honie at Birdholme last week. AeeideiMallv he swallowed it. He felt no ill effects. On klon day a girl friend at Haslaud TTall Rehool lieard about it aud said: "Rwallow a half pennv to show you love nie." Brian swallowed a half pennv. On Tuesdav a boy gave hirri a farthing and dared him to swallovi it. Brian swallowed the farthing and annther of his own. On Wednesday sehool friends gatherod up 10 buttons. Brian swallowed the lot. Tt took him 10 minutes. Yesterday tliey thought they had Brian beaten. The boys eollected 24 e'mpty cartridge ea=es but Brian swallowed them "too. He never niissed sehool: And never niissed a meal.
