Cement Shortage Putting Men Out Of Work

MASTERTON, June 20. The cement shortage has become so serious in Masterton that temporary unemployment faees plaster»»rs, clrainlayers and carpenters. The Master Builders' Associatio i and Master Plumbers' Assoeiation have seni telegrams to the Building Ccntroller asking for sufficient cement to enable essential work to be kept going. Already some builders have had to put their men on to odd jobs for a few days a week, but that cannot go on much longer. Work on houses under construction has stopped. Plasterers and draiiilayefs cannot get cement for finishing work and the plumbers are similariy held up. Builders cannot lay the foundatibns for new houses because they are out of cement.
