The institute hal threer representatives on the Poroutbwhgto Hbll Society and MesdameS Carle? Speirs and Penny were re^ elected. Mesdames .Carle ana Lumsden, were e'ected as delegatek to .the rdlly tomm'ittee. Arrahgemerits were made for the birthday party on- July 16, thfe function to be an ev'ening-one. An invitatibn was accepted by members to attend the Koputaroa institute '5 birthday. The president thanked all members who had helfied with the arts ahd craLS display, particular thanks bein^ due to Mesdames SpbirS, Carle and Vickers. Several members voiced their appreciation of birthday greetings received during the past hlonth. The roll call, "Gardening Hints, brought forward a numbbr bf interesting and useful suggestibns. Mrs. Scott referred .to the imfi'ehdihg depdrt'ure 'bf Mrs. Keh Hannaan and expressed the gratirtude of. members , t,o her for th'e lively interest and help tfiat sh'e had always ungrudgingly given. As a tok'en of esteem,' Mrs. Hannam was asked to accept a readihg; lamp and Wall mirror. A presentation was made to Mrs. McEwan, a new member who is also leaving.the! diStrict. During the afternoon much appreciated items Were rendered by Mesdames R. Sutcliffe, R. Green and J. Thornton'; and Miss A. Hewitt. * .Competition ,winners were Bloom: Mesdames Sloah and Lumsden 1 (equal) , Mrs. Vick'ers 2, Mrs. Penny 3. Shrub : Mrs. Vickers 1, Mrs. Sloan 2, Mesdames Penny and Lumden 3 (equal). Vegbtable: Mesdames Sloan and Lumsden 1 (equal). Pikelets: Mrs. tCarle 1, Mrs. Hannam 2, Mrs. j5.loan 3.
