♦ I Held in fine weather yesterday fol lowing a stormy night, the. Feilding live stock sale offcred some good lines oi in-lamb ewes which experienced a pavticularly buoyant sale. Entries were in excess of advertised numbers, but this. did not infiuenee the market in any degree. On the contrary the buyers were present and «appeared to operate withont limits. Two tooth ewes sold to 55s 6d, 4th made to 55s, 6th to 51s 6d, 4-yr. to 50s, 5-yr. 46s, to 51s. Other store sheep also sold at prices slightly stronger that late rates. The fat sheep market remained steady with just a slight upward trend for the beSt of the wethers, otherwise there was no marked variation on late rates. Por a mid winter sale the market was particularly brighi generally. Fat Sheep ' Of the yarding of approximately 15U0 fat sheep close on 800 were hogge'ts , varying from ;uniinished to medium fat and prime sorts. With odd exeep tions most of the sheep were of the medium order with little heavy mutton. Prices generally were unchanged be yond slight variations for quality. Tln tops of the wethers sold to 51s 4d the best hoggets made 43s 7d and the besi of the ewes realised 36s lOd. Particular interest was centred on the speciai entries of in-lamb ewes on account «if Mr A. G. Dear, of Rongotea, and the prices paid for these revealed that buyers were fuliy competitive. The 2-th. ewes realised 54s, the 4-th. 55s, the 6-tli. 51s 6d, the 4-yr. 50s and the 5-yr. 46s. : The best price of the season for 5-yr. ewes was 51s paid for a line of 202 offered on account of Mrs E. A. E. ' Savill. Another' line of 2-th. ewes realisi ed 55s. The, best price for 2-th. wethers was 43s while wether hoggets made to 37s ld and ewe hoggets to 49s. For a mid winter sale, held in fine weather,

Dear at 51s 6d; 71 4-yr. same a/c at 50s; 48 m.a. a/e G. H. Craine at 57s; 60 4 and 5-yr. at 40s; 204 4-th. a/c A. G. Dear at 55s and 54s; 64 5-yr. at 39s; 22 4 and 5-yr. at 37s 3d; 40 5-yr. at 36s lOd. Wether hoggets: 48 at 32s 3d; 71 at 37s ld; 139 at 37s; 242 at 36s; 116 ai 36s 4d; 145 at 34s 8d; 106 at 37s ld; 28 at 35s 6d; 15 at 32s 9d; 30 at 24s 4d; 30 at 30s; 27 at 30s 9d. Evre hoggets: 80 a/c G. H. Craine at 49s. Down cross hoggets: 29 at 27s ld; 64 at 3.6s; 96 at 34s. Wethers: 61 at 43s ld; 90 at 40s; 36 at 41s. Fattening ewes: 49 at 22s 7d. Fat Cattle Ileif er and , cow beef was on off er but not all of" the entries were wanted. Medium prime station heifers and cows sold aceording to weights. The realisations were: 6 Hereford heifers at £12; A.A. heifers were passed in; A.A. cows £13 10s; ex dairy cows, £9 7s 6d, £10 12s ,6d, £12 2s Od; ex dairy heifers, £11 13s to £13 10s; vealers £10. Station Cattle The onlv station cattle offering coraprised a few small pens and the recorded saies were: 10 Hereford steers at £13; 16 A.A. heifers at £10 16s. Dairy Cattle There was a little more aetivity in the dairy cattle section due to slighte. larger entries whieh ineluded some good quality cows. The saies were: Springing heifers £14 15s to £16 5s; springing cows, £10 15s, £11 5d, £13 5s, £15 10s, £17 to £19; cows in milk £5, £6 5s to £6 15s; lSmths. heifers £9 5s; weaner heifers £4 10s. Stors Cattle A moderate offering of boner cattle experienced come competition but buyers were not in all cases ready to meet vendors reserves. Prices were: Cows, £3 5s, £-1 5s, £4 15s, £4 17s 6d, £5 19s, £6 5s, £6 17s 6d, £7 10s, £7 17s 6d, £8 5s, £8 15s, £9 5s to £10 10s ; empty heifers £8 5s; bulls £5 15s.
