Methodist Home Dainties Afternoon
. The home dainties afternoon held recently by St. John's Methodist Women's Missionary Union Auxiliary was most ..enjoyable and resulted in the sum of £18 being raised. Rev. H. S. Kings opened proceedLngs and much appreciated vocal items were given by Mesdames I Taylor and J. Ordish, whfe Mrs. Hinde delighted everyone with two humorous recitations. Shoulder sprays were presented to the artists by Mrs. H. S. Kings, the president of the auxiliary. The organist was Mrs. G. Hutton. Mesdames J. Harvey, E. Bott and G. Hutton were in charge of the well-laden stall and the dainty afternoon tea wassqrved by Mrs. Moxham 4 and helpers. The object of the afternoon was to raise money towards payment, of Cicely II, the ship of merey, which was launched in Auckland a short time ago and is now on her way to the Solomon Islands. ,The Astley family,' of Auckland, the buiiders of the vessel, and others, have made very generous donations and the auxiliaries-throughout New ZeaTahd have pledged themselves to raise the necesary money to eomplete payment of the jship.
