'ihe .striKmg uiuon announced the resuits'of the balloting .as foJoy/s : Vand ballot, 14,711; for a continuacion ot the strike, 12,626; against a continuation, 2085. The decision to continue the strike means' that over 30 "goods trains from West Germany will remain b.ocked m the Sovier zone and that West Beriin will b.e dependent 'for supplies upon what can be broughG m by the air lift, lorry and barge. Jtierr Heinz Bracht, chairman of the striking union, said after the vote that the "results show one thing clearly — the workers have n.o confidence in Russian promises." Before the raiiwaymen was an ofier of 75 per cent. of their pay in Western marks — 60 per cent. from their employers, the Soviet railway autliorities, and 15 per cent. to be changed by the Western City ad1 ministration. The strikers w^anted all their pay in West marks, and the strike could only end if a 75 per cent. vote said so.
