• A large pair jof coast-watching glasses capture'd from.t-he Japanese has hebn presented to the Hermitage,' Mou-nt Cook, by the R.N.Z.A.F. Tfie glasses were part of the equip--rrie'nt "seized; after the Jap's^sur- . render in1 1945; and were used by General -Kanda's troops on -hills over.'ooking the Allied positions at Bougainville. Hanging giaciers which are miles away are brought so close by the' -glasses that the ice caves can be seen clearly.
