Messrs Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that supp.ies during the past week have been very much easier and values h~ve remained firrn, with a strong demand for all fruits except Meyer lemons and kumeras. Tree toma.oes were in very str'ong demand, 2C;s being realised f_r an extra choice line. Spring bu'bs appeared on the market this week and are reaiising exceptionally attractive V" ues. In the vegetable sectio* heavy supplies of cauliflower have resulted in glut values. Peas and beans on the other hand are in keen enquiry and values have proved most satisfactory. New Potatoes are selling at ceiling price. Heavy yardings of poultry have been offered and values are holding at late rates, there being a very keen enquiry for turkeys. Quotations are as follows: — Fruit: Tre'e tomatoes, red, 11s to 20s; persimmons, 7s to 9s; Meyerlemons, 6s 6d to 8s 3d; Chinese gooseberries, 24s to 33s; outside tomatoes, 12s to 22s ha f case; pasSioh 'fruit, 1s 9d to 2s 3d dozen; sweet oranges, 17s tcf 25s; marmalade oranges, 20s to 26s bushel' case; hothouse tomatoes, ls 3d to ls 8d per pound. Flowers: Sol d'ors, 28s to 33s gross; poppies, art, 6s to 8s 6d; tangerine, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; carnations, best, 22s 6d; paper whites, 3s, all per gross; chrysanlhemums, 2s 6d half dozen; violets, 5s to 8s 6d dozen.
