EAST LONDON, Jiiixe 12. "I am very proud of the grit shown hy the hoys during a very trying period. I do not thiuk this has been surpassed by ' any touring side, ' ' saidj Mr. J. H. Parker, manager of the New Zealand Rugby teain, after Saturday's match against Eastem Province. "Our problems," Mr. Parker continued, "have been scrunimage diffieulties, a crop of injuries, and Unseasonable weather. . • . "We liave been playing and training in temperatures of from 70 to S5 degrees. We have weathered the diliieult period. I. said at the outset that the players would -need liard matches to get properlv lit. They are getting that now and are steadily iniproving. Strength a Mystery. The South African Press Association says of the match : 1 ' While the All Blacks merited their win, their real strength §till remains a mystery. They showed flashes of iirst-class liugby, but the whole macliine is not yet funetioning smoothly. They are obviously capable of cracking on tlie pace, whieh. ean be a real threat to South African Rugby. If they avoid further injuries we may see in the next few games just how good this side is. "
