Central Bowling Club To Lay New Green
A decision to proceed immediately with the formation of a new green was made at the annua meeting of the Central Bowling Cluh last week. It was agreed that it should he first laid as a sawdust green and, if that proved unsatisfactory, it could he sown down in grass later. It vwas also decided that a special general meeting be held to fully consider the proposal to erect a new pavi'ion. - Another decision made was. that Saturday !mornings be made available for match play and that set Saturday mornings be arranged for the playing of singles, any players unable to play on * that date set down being given permission to decide the game, by arrangement with their opponent, prior tb that date. " Review Of Season. The president, Mr. W. Sharp, occupied the chair and in his report thanked the officers and members of the club for the harmonious way they had all worked with him durmg the year, thus making his term nf nffir.p a mnst nleasant one. He
complimented the club on the satisfactory state of its finances, the green superintendent on the improved playing surface of the green, the beautifying committee on the excellent manner in which fche grounds had been kept and all other committees on their work, and hoped that the same co-opera-tion would be fortheoming to his successor. The secretary, Mr. K. A. Bowater, reported on the general statistics of the cluh, which showed an ih--crease in memhership, but revea'ed that the club had room for quite a number of players yet. The cluh had -not been successful this season
in winning any of the inter-club trophies, but it was pleasing to note how closely these games had been contested. Championship Winners. The club championships had been won as fo^ows: — Senior singles, K. A. Bowater; senior pairs, S. Small and W. G. Clark (s) ; sepior' rinks, W. D. Braid, O. H. Hudson, W. Seddon and W. G. Clark (s) ; intermediate singles, A. Wilkins; intermediate pairs, J. *D. Renkin and A. Wilkins; intermediate rinks, J. D. Renkin, G. Lester and W. Dalzell, H. Fenn (s) ; junior singles, GLester. In the Manawatu champion of champion events, G. Lester was to be congratulated on being runnerup in the oolts' singles, In conclusion, the secretary congratulated the president on his friendly attitude towards 'all members on all occasions, which had helped to make the season a most harmonious one.
