PILLION RIDER KILLED.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 12. When a motorcycle attempted to pass a stationary tram in Riccarton Road late last evening, a piilion rider was thrown off and suffered fatal injuries. He was: — THOMAS MICHAEL SLOAN, agea 32, married, of Hornby. The rider of the motorcycle, Norman Forrestef, of Islington, and a passenger alighting from the tram, Francis Roy Purdon, were admitted to hospital. Purdon has a fractured leg and jaw. Another passenger, Flight Lieutenant F. A. Haldane, suffered shoclc and was talcen to the R.N.Z.A.F. station at Wigram.
