THE INGRATITUDE OF AUSTRALIAN COALMINERS
Received Sunday 11 p.m. SYDNEY, June 12. A warning to Australian coalminers that they were wrong if they thought that by continuing their petty stoppages they could crucify the Labour Govcrnmgnt or impose on the people of Australia some sort of code or philosophy bronght from another eountry, was given by Mr Chifley, when addressing •the annual conferenee of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labour Party to-day. Mr Chifley said: "They can forget that. The people o'f Australia Won't' have it. Members of the Australian labour movement do not want polidies brought from other countries. They can create their own policies to suit their own needs." - - , - . Mr Chifley declared that the" New South Wales and the Federal Labour Government had set out years ago to rehabilitate the mining industry. The two Governments had not been able to do all they wanted to do beeaiise of physieal limitations but they did achieve a great deal. For miners to strike over minor matters was pin' ingratitude.
