Fines For Traffic Breaches
For operating a heavy vehicle at an excessive speed, Reuben Rona.d Ravenshood was fined £3 and costs, in the Magistrate's Court, Otaki, on Thursday. For having several long lengths of timbei overhanging lOfo 9ins, he was fined £1 and costs. Inspector R. B. Doggett, prosecuting, said that he checked defendant's speed at from 42 to 45 miles ner hour at Raumati Sou'.h. The maximum speed allowed was 30 m.p.h. David Frederick Baxrett, also prosecuted by Inspector D"vergett. was fined 10S for having fafed to renew his warrant of fitness. John Bishop, John Hakaraia, Margaret Roper and Margaret Winterburn, all of whom failed to sppear, were each fined 10s and costs when charged by Traffic Inspector C. L. Davis with riding un"ighted ticycles after sundown, while Noeline Wilmshurst, who appeared, was fine'd 5s and costs.
