Union To Be Deregistered
• MELBOURNE, June 9. The de-registration-of tlie F'ederated Engmedi'ivers' and Fhremen's Assoeiation was ordered by the iull Arbitration Conrt^ with Judge Foster dissenting. . The order was made on an . application by the Metal Trades Exnployers' Association arising from a strike of 27 'members of the. union at the Clyde Enginfeering Works, Sydney, whieh has resalted in the closing of the works and putting 1200 men out of work. The men struek on Mareh 4 for a wage rise and have defied instructions from The union to return to work. The aeting-Eederai secretary. of the union (Mr. T. D. Scott) said that the order would aff'e.ct 20,000 union members throughout AustraliaWhen the judgment was handed down, the application of the union m the basie wage ease was promptiy struck out. « j Judge Eoster took the view that application for de-registration was premature and that the union should be eneouraged in its elfoTt to bring the striking group under control.
