WELLINGTON. June 9. "I stand for capital- puuishment. I think the sooner people shed their slushv sentimentality the hetter," said Mrs. G. H. Ross. National memher of Parliament for Hamilton, addrossing a meeting in "Wellington last night. No woman. said Mrs. Ross, wanted to see anvbody hanged, hnt there had. to he pimishments for varions crimes po that people would not commit them. . Cases. she said* shonld he examined on their merits, and whatever the penaltv decided unon, it should he carried out. A life sentence should he a life sentence. "The women of this countrv need protection, and the women of this country will vote to get protection," she said, amid applause.
