The annual conference of the British hegion at Great Yarmouth. endorsed by a large majority a recommendation Brom its national executive that it -^hould decline to approve the organisaHon of sne'-ial football pools for the benefit of disabled ex-servicemen. The "onference expressed the opinion that Ro wns ''unworthv and undesirable." It was decided to urge that in future, lecoratio'is awarded to members of the irmed forces sliould l>e presented at mblic funetions iustead of being sent "0 recipients by post. A woman deleuite from Gloucester, IMrs. .Tohn Landanan, wlio raised the matter, said that •mdals sent through the post "matter>d less than Aunt Fanny'.s Christmas present. ' ' Bv a large' majority the conference ler-ided to ask that the present movabie Temembrance Sundav should be abol•shed and that Remembrance Bay ■houhi once again be held on Xovember 11 with the lirst Sundav after that date is Remembrance Hunday. The chairman, Folonel Gordon Lark:ng, promised at an aopronriate time to bitroduce proposals for the formation )f a world organisation of servicemen and women.
