Much-Discussed Land To Be Taken Under Act
The section at the corrier -of Beach Road and the main highway, at the southern boundary of Levin, is to be taken over by the Ministry of Works un^er the Public Works Act, 1928, as it has been found" impossible to reach an amicable agreement with the owners. This information was contained in a "letter read at1 yesterday'?. meeting of the Horowhenua County Council from the Ministry of -Works. It was stated that notice of intention to take over the land compulsori y was in the course of preparation, and the council was asked to see that in the meantime no buiiding permits oi any type were issued for the land. „ The letter added that the departrnent concurred with the comments contained in a letter from the Levin Borough Council regarding the beautification of the balance of the ssction not requirea for the re-alignment of the main road, and would contact it and ths eounty council lai.er in regard to this matter. ■ 0
