Woman Candidate For Maori Seat

HA MILTON, .Tune 7. The first Maori woman to seek election to Parliament is Mrs. Ka Nutana. of Raglan, who will stand in the interests of the Kanhanganui Independent party for the Western Maori seat, at present held bv Mr. M. Ratana, of the Wanganxii district. Mrs. Nxitana has been a prominent worker for Maqri welfare organisations and is a member of the Waikato tribes. She is said to have had l!ie b.acking of a very representative meeting of chiefs at Turangawaewae pa, Ngaruawahia. Her selection was announeed by the chief .organiser of the party today.
