N.Z. Chess Champion Has Several Successes

Mr. R, I: Wade, is at presejjt taking part in an international chess tournament - at Heidelberg, Germany, and when this coneludes on 'June.d2, he will go on' to play at another vfiternationai tournament at Oldenburg from Jnne 18 to July 2, and at the international masters tournament at Trencianske Tepiice, Ozachoslovakia, from August 26 to Heptember 17. Since March, when he competed unsuccessfully in the British chess ehampionships at Hastings, Mr. Wade has been living in Switzerland where he has been working on the revision of a book on cbgss openings. Since he left New '2&xriaird-''tO' -"CUmpete-'-in-^ British11 'aAd1 Eufopean chess t'ournaments, Mr. Wade has been placed first at Hertogenbosch (Holland), second at Soest Baarn (Holland), and second at Arbon, Hwitzerland.
